RMT (Level 5), Dip. Wellness & Relaxation Massage.
Hi I’m Megan, I have always had a passion with giving back to others and have held a fascination with the body and its various functions since studying it in Health in high school.
Initially, I completed a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in French and German and followed up with postgraduate studies in teaching primary students but discovered it wasn’t for me. I began my studies at the New Zealand College of Massage in 2019 and thoroughly enjoyed the skills and knowledge I was gaining (so did my immediate family!) I would still like to do further my diploma and work within Palliative Care or Pain studies and address the benefits of massage for those groups.
My passion is to provide my clients with a safe, calm space to relax and create a client focused session for them, using my skills and knowledge to achieve this. I also want to help clients between the sessions by suggesting stretches or home relaxation techniques in order for them to feel their best in life.
My working background for the last 8 years has been within Pool facilities in the Hutt Valley as a lifeguard, receptionist and swimming instructor. This environment has thoroughly thrown me out of my comfort zone as an introvert but has given me valued skills in customer service, quality of care and helped me develop a sense of empathy, compassion and respect which I feel are vital to creating safe, comfortable relationships with others.
I have a passion for massage and have been doing mobile massage since the completion of my studies in July 2020. Having worked at a couple of sporting events I’ve been lucky enough to meet clients that have confirmed that I am now where I want to be. I believe that health is more than just physically being well; a person has more than one aspect which makes up their Hauora (total well-being). As someone who has issues with depression and anxiety, I know how important it is to take the time to look after yourself.
